Leader of Learning – Resource

The Calgary Jewish Academy is excited to announce an opening for a Leader of Learning – Resource. This full-time position will include working closely with the GAIN Learning Leader and a full teaching load of face-to-face interventions with students on a regular basis.

CJA faculty and staff immerse themselves in school life: from coaching athletic teams, sponsoring clubs, chaperoning school trips, to heading up numerous extra-curricular activities. Teachers and staff get to know our students one-on-one. Each day at the CJA is different. Each day at the CJA is rewarding.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop a schoolwide plan for their assigned area in consultation with staff and school administration. The plan should be a written 3–5-year plan and include stakeholder voice and be shared with all staff members.
  • Develop specific strategies/actions for your assigned area to be part of our School Development Plan. You will be in charge of monitoring the results of the strategies/actions of your area of responsibility. Data collection should be considered to measure growth.
  •  Coordinate and provide professional development activities for staff in assigned areas. Take a leadership role in planning professional development days/activities and bringing in outside expertise when needed.
  • Coordinate effort to assist PLCs (Professional Learning Communities) in their work.
  • Interpretation of PAT results and the development of actions to improve current scores (where applicable).
  • Attend all evening activities and performances to assist to supervise and represent the administrative team
  • Meet on a regular basis with staff to focus work around:
    • Task Design – help teachers develop quality learning tasks
    • PLC work- model how PLCs operate and focus on student work and increasing student achievement
    • Personalization of learning

  Collaboration with School Leadership:

  • Has demonstrated the ability to work well as part of a team, a strong belief in shared leadership, and the ability to work collaboratively with the Head of School/Principal. 
  •  Report regularly at admin meetings/staff meetings on progress of work in assigned area.

Jewish Heritage and Culture:

  • Ensure all educational activities reflect the school’s commitment to Jewish values, culture, and tradition.
